Lydia’s Spa Collections are handmade body products made from natural ingredients and scented with fabulous essential and fragrance oils. Lydia’s strive to provide customers with body products that will moisturize, nurture and enhance the skin without harmful chemicals and preservatives. Lydia’s is all about pampering the total person: mind, body and spirit.

Tell us a little bit about you and your background:
My name is Davida and I am the face behind Lydia’s Spa Collections. I am a single mother of one teenager. I live in the Peach State-Georgia. Currently I work for a private insurance company while secretly dreaming of opening my own little “bathtique” selling my natural body products.
What made you start and why did you get started creating your handmade crafts:
I love body products but every time I would use a major chain of bath products, I would break out into weird patches of skin and itch really bad. Also, I have a young niece who suffers from eczema. So to give both our skins some relief, I began to research natural ingredients for body products and began to experiment and share.
Once I began to share my story and my product, those close to me began to make requests, place orders and tell their friends. That was the start of my small bath and body biz over a year ago. The passion for creating products has not stopped; it has intensified and has been fueled by great customers.
What makes your handmade crafts unique:
I am not so sure if my products are so unique. I believe that the passion and the thought that goes into each product makes each item special. I am inspired by benefits that the ingredients have on the skin and the great compliments that I get from my customers when they tell me they now have a new favorite item from my store.
What do you enjoy most about being an artist:
The thing that I enjoy the most about being an artist is serving my customers by pampering the skin that they are in. This small biz has allowed me to connect with some new people who I hope to remain friends with for years to come.
Where do you sell your crafts:
I primarily sell my products online (personal site, Artfire, etc.) and by word of mouth locally. I hope to get into craft fairs and flea markets in the very near future.
Is there anything else, you would like to share:
The only other thing I would like to share with readers is the story behind the brand name. I chose the name Lydia because of the female in the Bible with that name who is called the “Seller of Purple” (Acts 16). She is said to be the first female entrepreneur of the Bible. Lydia used specimens of the sea to make a purple dye. The dye was then used to color the cloth to make fabric that was sold to the wealthy.
With Lydia’s Spa Collections, I use natural ingredients scented with essential and fragrance oils to make body products that will moisturize and nourish the skin while giving you a spa like experience at home. Lydia had a few of the characteristics that I have today. She was generous, hospitable and faithful. She was willing to share and provide for the needs of others.
I don’t want my business just to be one of sales and promotions. I want to be able to connect with my customers and quite possibly connect them with others in my circle while pampering the skin they are in.

Selling crafts online doesn’t have to be difficult. In order to sell crafts online you really just need a few key things.
An e-commerce website or online shop that has a shopping cart which allows you to sell crafts online. Our recommendations are to use sites such as Etsy.com, Artfire.com or Bonanzle.com. With these sites it is easy for your craft shoppers to buy crafts online. These sites do charge transaction fees which are relatively small compared to the cost of trying to setup a shopping cart on your own.
Pictures are worth a thousand words. You must have good pictures of your crafts. If you are photographing your own crafts try to make the pictures look as professional as possible. One tip to remember is that the best lighting for photographs is natural light. Make sure there isn’t any glare or shadows to that will draw attention from your crafts. Oh and please use simple backgrounds that will not take away the focus from your craft!
A marketing plan is a must complete with a monthly marketing budget! Just because you have built it doesn’t mean that shoppers will come. As a matter of fact if craft shoppers don’t know you are online they don’t know you exist. So it is important that you create a marketing plan that will drive shoppers directly to your crafts.
If online marketing isn’t your thing than you may want to consider using the services of a virtual craft show. HandmadeCraftshow.com is an online virtual craft show that allows handmade artists to concentrate on creating and selling crafts online and not worry about trying to attract shoppers.
HandmadeCraftShow.com drives craft shoppers to handmade artist’s web sites and online shops by providing artists with virtual craft show booths. Virtual craft show booths allow artists to display their crafts and when buyers are ready to view more or make a purchase they click a link that takes them directly to the handmade artist’s web site. This way, shoppers are able to purchase directly from the artists. There is no site wide shopping cart or registration platform.
If you are a handmade artists, and you would like to concentrate on selling crafts online versus trying to drive shoppers to your online shop then you should definitely try HandmadeCraftShow.com.

After being launched for less than 2 months, HandmadeCraftShow.com has already reached major milestones. Not only have we achieved 1st page search engine rankings for popular keyword search terms, such as virtual craft show, online craft shows and handmade craft show, but we have also broken the 7,000 plus visitors a month barrier. We are very pleased with our accomplishments and we are working even harder to bring in more visitors for this month.
However we realize that quality traffic is way better than quantity. That is why we work very hard to make sure we are bringing in lots and lots of targeted traffic to our site. Visitors to our craft show come from around the world and they come with the main purpose of buying handmade crafts online. We not only target online shoppers who want to buy handmade crafts in general, but we also target shoppers based on the crafts our vendors are selling. This is an added value for our craft show vendors who are able to rent craft show booths in 30 day increments. Renting a craft show booth for 30 days helps maximize exposure for our handmade craft artists!
So if you do not have a booth on www.handmadecraftshow.com you are missing out on craft shoppers who want to buy your crafts! Right now to rent a booth on our craft show web site costs roughly $.43/day, which adds up to only $12.95/month. This makes HandmadeCrafShow.com perhaps one of the most affordable online advertising opportunities for handmade craft artists.
So if you are selling crafts online but just not getting the traffic and/or exposure you need, we invite you to give us a try!
Here is what comes included with every craft show booth rental:
* Your name or name of company * Web site url that links directly to your site or online shop so customers can purchase from you * 5 pictures of items that you would like to represent your booth (picture size is approx 80×80px) * A brief description of your crafts or company * A short list of crafts you are selling
Plus……
* Your booth is presented in a featurette on our official blog, showcased on the front of our social network, and blasted to our followers on Twitter.com * One craft picture is placed in our rotating featured craft box located in the left column of select pages * One picture is placed on ShopHandmadeOnline.com – our online catalog for as long as you rent a booth * We will provide you with a link that will allow you to track your booth’s traffic impressions and clicks
We invite all handmade craft artists who are selling crafts online to join our craft show. Are you ready to rent your booth? Click Here »

We have added a new feature to our online virtual craft show that allows vendors to monitor their booths impressions and the amount of clicks their booth receives from our craft show visitors.
The traffic monitoring has so far been a hit with our handmade craft artists because it allows them to monitor the effectiveness of them advertising on our site.
This new value adding feature is provided to all new vendors of our craft show at no additional charge.
The traffic monitoring feature is just one new feature of many that we have added to help craft show vendors successfully promote their handmade crafts on www.handmadecraftshow.com
